SBW: Tackling Canada’s productivity gap: It starts with entrepreneurs

'Measure up! Shape your future' is part of BDC Small Business Week.

What's at the root of Canada's much-discussed productivity gap? How is this impacting the bottom line of our small- and medium-sized businesses and their ability to compete? What do the most successful entrepreneurs do to up their game?

Come hear the answers to these questions as Michael Denham, President and CEO of BDC—the only Canadian bank devoted exclusively to entrepreneurs—reveals the results of a comprehensive study on productivity of 1,500 Canadian business owners.

You will also hear about Canada's first ever business productivity benchmarking tool that BDC will be launching this fall. This free tool will allow business owners from all industries compare their productivity levels to those of other companies in the same sector, and learn where they can improve their performance.

Join us at the historic St. Louis Hotel for this insightful discussion on productivity in the entrepreneurial business.

BoostR Stage YYC

BoostR Stage is ATB BoostR’s live pitch event.

Imagine local entrepreneurs pitching their business on a stage to a room full of 300 people. The fun part is that YOU are in the crowd and YOU get to decide how much money each entrepreneur will win that night!

Each $30 ticket includes:

  • Admission
  • Appetizers
  • $10 to boost a business of your choice that pitches that night

During the event, the audience uses a text-to-vote tool to vote for their favourite pitch. Each entrepreneur walks away with funds equivalent to the % of votes they received that night. The overall pitch competition winner is the one with the most votes. All funds from audience votes go directly towards the crowdfunding campaigns of the entrepreneurs pitching. So, YOU, the crowd have the power to BOOST local businesses - oh and watching the pitches is a ton of fun too!

A Night of Radical Generosity

We invite you to join us for an evening of #radicalgenerosity, hosted by BMO, Bank of Montreal, in Calgary as they continue to power the SheEO movement across Canada.

Come out to get an update, bring a friend (we'd like to get 1000 Activators this time around) and connect with your fellow Activators from Calgary. You'll hear from Vicki Saunders, award-winning mentor, serial entrepreneur and global influencer and learn about SheEO and Radical Generosity's expansion across the United States and the excitement about Radical Generosity around the world.

What is Radical Generosity? Founded by Vicki in 2014, SheEO is designed to radically transform how we support, finance and celebrate female entrepreneurs who are creating a better world. A thousand radically generous women Activators per region commit to a $1100 annual fee, 90% of which is loaned out to local women-led ventures, paid back over five years, and reinvested perpetually. With Activators as advisors, early customers, suppliers, connectors, and trusted follow-on investors, our ventures are set up for immediate and accelerated growth. Our community is the heart of SheEO’s wealth generation. By 2020 we will have $1 million women globally supporting 10,000 female entrepreneurs with $1billion perpetual loan fund.
